Dr Holmes graduated with Honours from the University of NSW, Sydney. As someone who prides himself on honouring the benefits and importance of community, Dr Holmes went on to establish the Ocean Shores Medical Centre in 1983.
Dr Holmes began his career in the Northern Rivers as a RMO at Lismore base Hospital then acquired Brunswick Heads Medical Centre while working at Mullumbimby and Byron Bay Hospital gaining further experience with in-patient care, obstetrics, and accident and emergency.
Dr Holmes participated in the local General Practitioner roster for all out of hours care as well as being a Government Medical Officer for the Northern Rivers. His duties were to attend patients at police request and to attend court as an expert witness.
As Practice Principle, Dr Holmes holds a keen interest in all aspects of family health, skin cancer medicine, emergency medicine and medicinal cannabis. With over 40 years of medical experience, Dr Holmes oversees all aspects of management and supervision to a continuous rotation of registrars.
Beyond the office, Dr Holmes is a Father, Grandfather, Farmer and Fisherman. He is a keen reader, enjoys the outdoors, tending to his cattle and spending time with his ever-growing family.
Dr Daniel Jones has been in the health profession for 25 years. Having completed a Bachelor of nursing with honours he then went on to study and complete his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
After working in a number of rural and urban hospitals across Queensland he then moved to north NSW to follow his dream of practicing holistic health care. As such he successfully completed his GP training and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
His interest in mind, body and spirit health led him to study Traditional Chinese Medicine and is a member of the Australian Medical Acupuncture College after finishing his Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture studies.
Dan is passionate about grass roots, community driven health care initiatives and has volunteered overseas in helping build local capacity and to train and empower local health practitioners to provide culturally appropriate and sustainable care.
He is passionate about holistic and preventative health care, believing that health is more than the absence of disease and has dedicated his time to fostering client education, empowerment and ultimately conscious wellbeing.
Dr Hilda Steele is a Canadian doctor, but went to medical school in Melbourne. She has lived in the area now over 10 years and been at Ocean Shores Medical Centre since 2017.
Dr Steele loves all aspects of general practice but has a particular interest in paediatrics and obstetrics, and loves looking after the whole family. She also has an interest in skin cancer medicine and minor procedures, happy to perform skin checks through the medical centre or the skin clinic.
In her spare time Dr Steele can be found at the beach, chasing around her 2 daughters, who are 4 and 6 years old.
Dr James is a passionate, young doctor who shares a keen interest in his patients’ health and wellbeing. He believes that patients are most healthy when they have a good connection with their GP. As a result, he strives to build rapport with every patient he sees and is well known for his gentle nature and sense of humour.
James obtained his combined medical and surgery degree at the University of Queensland in 2015. Previously, he completed his Bachelor of Biomedical Science and Bachelor of Applied Science with First Class Honours at Queensland University of Technology. He has also completed the Sydney Child Health Program through the University of Sydney.
At present, James is completing his Masters in Skin Cancer but is already an expert in skin cancer diagnosis and management. He offers the Ocean Shores community skilled prevention advice, thorough skin checks and cancer removals with excellent cosmetic results. James can assist his patients in paediatric medicine and chronic disease management. He is also trained in Implanon insertion or removal, and family planning.
Outside of work, James enjoys martial arts classes at Point Break in Mullumbimby and spending time at home with his wife Jamie and their growing family.
Dr. Elise Turner has been practicing medicine since graduation from the University of Notre Dame Sydney in 2013. She has particular interest in the areas of antenatal care, child health, skin cancer medicine and minor surgical procedures.
Dr. Elise has undergraduate qualifications in medical imaging (Nuclear Medicine), a postgraduate certification in Advanced Surgical Anatomy (University of Queensland) and a Diploma in Child Health (Westmead Hospital, Sydney).
Outside of the GP Clinic she enjoys being a Mum (both furry and human), a surgical assistant, a beach explorer and a frequenter of local cafes sampling baked goods.

Dr Harrison is a UK trained doctor and achieved fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in March 2022. She is developing a broad interest in general practice including woman’s health, minor surgery, preventative medicine which includes a personal interest in lifestyle and sports medicine. She has a prior background in emergency medicine in Queensland’s largest emergency department. She follows an evidence-based approach to treatment and believes strongly in the continuity of patient care.
In addition to working at the OSMC, Dr Harrison has been a teaching fellow at Bond University for the past 3 years.
